March 30th was Van Gogh day and in celebration we had ears of corn with dinner and Preston did these sunflowers in tribute.

Field trip!
Today we went to the Bonneville dam and fish hatchery as part of March's learning focus: water! Unfortunately the visitor's center was closed at the dam, but we looked around outside and then wandered down to the hatchery. This is a picture of a turbine that helps create electricity. See more photos on our Flickr. Among my favorites is this one.

Pi Day 2009
So, this last Saturday, March 14th 2009, we once again celebrated Pi Day. March 14th? 3/14? 3.14? Get it? &Pi
For brunch we had a tasty sausage and orange bell pepper quiche with homemade crust. Dinner was a tasty pizza from a local place, Stark Naked Pizza on Stark St., and then we had a chocolate pudding pie for desert. Ate way too much, but soooo tasty. Side note: It was also Einstein's B-Day and the 15th anniversary of version 1.0 of the Linux kernel. What a wonderful day for geeks!

Egg cup fish
For March we decided Preston would learn all about water. This was the first craft connected to it. It's an egg cup fish. Preston drew the fins and also the face on the fish. Papa helped him cut them out and tape everything together. Tonight we read about clouds.

The P-Dub Magic Art Hour
OK, it's not an hour, but this is kind of a long video, 5 min. So consider yourself warned. But it is full of cuteness and art. There are some sound problems at the beginning. My camera gave up the ghost, or rather had it wrenched from it and this is my first attempt at doing something using T's camera. Anyway, enough jibber jabber. On with the show.
